Victory at Mid-Ohio!

2011 Season 4 Round 11 - Mid Ohio

The iRacing V8 Supercars championship will go down to the final race with Mitchell McLeod taking a win at Mid Ohio, the penultimate race to 2011 Season 4.

Although not feeling overly confident heading into the event, McLeod held the advantage throughout by firstly setting the fastest time in qualifying to grab pole position.

“Qualifying was getting the better of me all night, right up until my last lap when I just nailed the last corner and got a sweet time out of it to start pole.”

My Race Team 2012

My Race Team

Well we’re barely in to 2012 and already I’m a part of a real life race team!

My Race Team is a community based team that will be entering a car in this seasons Aussie Racing Car Series starting at the Clipsal 500. The idea is everyone pays a small membership fee to be a part of the team, and all the money from the memberships go towards funding the team for the year. Every member gets a vote in what happens within the team, be it voting for the body shell, car paint job design, or even the driver for the season.

No more then  5 minutes after hearing about the team, I was a member! I joined the team with the aim of being voted in as the team’s driver for this season. But even if I’m not voted in as the team’s driver, it’s still going to be a great experience to be a part of a real world team spending time up close and personal with the car at whichever race meetings I can attend.

It’s a brilliant idea, and if you’ve ever wanted to be a part of a race team make sure you check out the website for all the info you need. There’s still plenty of memberships available for this season, but get in quick as they’re going fast!

Signed with Tatts.com

Mitchell McLeod and Madison Down, Turn 2, Brands Hatch, 2011 Season 4

After what has already been an unbelievable year for me on iRacing, after travelling to Germany for the Intel GP Masters, and winning the opening season of the V8 Supercar Online Seires, the year is going to end on a high after signing with Tatts.com Racing for the 4th and final season of 2011.

This is a massive step for myself, iRacing and the V8 Supercar Online series proving that iRacing is no longer just a game, but more a sport. The publicity the V8 Supercar Online Series is getting now has lured Tatts.com to advertise mainly within the V8 Supercar Series, but also throughout all of the series within iRacing.

The team will be a 2 car operation with Scott U’Ren joining me for what I believe will be an extremely strong line up for this season, with both of us capable of competing for the title this season.

I couldn’t be more excited about racing for such a big company like Tatts.com, and it’s given me extra motivation to push for the overall championship in the V8 Supercar Series once again.

Good Game TV Interview

Good Game Interview

Well what an honor! I never in my wildest dreams thought that I’d be interviewed on national TV about sim racing!

After getting back from Germany, and then winning the first season of the V8 Supercar Online Series for the year I was asked by Good Game to be interviewed for a segment on their show.

Of course, I couldn’t say no, so the crew came out to my place in Bendigo and spent the day doing the story. Was great fun for me to see how everything behind the scenes worked, and the end result I couldn’t of been happier with!

Racing in Germany!

Mitch will be competing against 9 other drivers in Germany

Yepp, that’s right! I’m racing in Hannover, Germany on the 4th of March in the Intel GP Series on iRacing.com.

The series began a few months ago with regional finals for European, US/Canada and Australia/Asia. It was a week long series for each region with the top 10 at the end of the week going in to a regional final. For the European and US Finals the top 4 drivers go on to race in Germany, in Australia though you had to finish in the top 2.

I managed to finish within the top 5 at the end of the week, which entered me in for our Regional Final, from there I just had to finish that race in 2nd or better, which I managed to do!

So now, a few months on and I’ve got my passport oganised, accommodation booked and flights are set! Having never being overseas before this is going to be a trip of a life time. And to be lucky enough to be going to Germany to race for prize money, it can’t really get much better then this!

The race in Germany will be broadcast live over the internet on Friday 4th of March at 10:15am local time (8:00pm Melbourne). You can watch the event via this link.

I’ll do my best to keep you updated while in Germany. :)
